What Happened?
Shares of crude oil tanker operator DHT Holdings (NYSE:DHT) jumped 4.3% in the pre-market session after the company provided an update on its expected fleet time charter equivalent earnings for the third quarter of 2026.
According to the company's release, spot very large crude carriers (VLCCs) generated an average of $167,100 per day, while time-chartered vessels earned $114,200 per day across 2,055 total revenue days, which included 1,054 spot days. DHT Holdings also reported that approximately 50% of available spot days for the fourth quarter of 2026 have been booked at an average rate of $509,100 per day on a discharge-to-discharge basis. Furthermore, roughly 78% of total fourth-quarter revenue days have been secured at an estimated average rate of $225,200 per day.
For crude tanker operators, time charter equivalent rates serve as a primary gauge of fleet profitability and operational cash flow. Investors welcomed the elevated booking rates and forward visibility heading into the final quarter of the year, which signal robust charter market conditions.

What Is The Market Telling Us
DHT Holdings’s shares are not very volatile and have only had 9 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today’s move indicates the market considers this news meaningful, although it might not be something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business.
The previous big move we wrote about was 4 days ago when the stock gained 4.3% on the news that a Gulf tanker attack slowed traffic through the strait, while hurricane-driven production halts shut in Gulf of Mexico output, the Financial Times noted.
The resulting supply squeeze lifted Brent crude above $104 per barrel and West Texas Intermediate to $92, according to CNBC. When global supplies face sudden restrictions, benchmark crude prices tend to spike, boosting revenue expectations and profitability for major oil and gas producers across the energy industry.
DHT Holdings is up 123% since the beginning of the year, and at $26.22 per share, it has set a new 52-week high. Investors who bought $1,000 worth of DHT Holdings’s shares 5 years ago would now be looking at an investment worth $4,065.
